Dear Evolving Entrepreneurs,
I had a long conversation last night with fellow Evolving Entrepreneur and friend, Michael Simmons.
Michael is a respected speaker on business and entrepreneurship in the college market and is known widely as a published author for his book, The Student Success Manifesto...that...I highly recommend, especially to aspiring young entrepreneurs.
Although Michael and I are from different backgrounds and philosophies we do have one strong common perspective.
That common perspective is that while both of us have the potential to either join an enterprises with significant revenues (>$100 Million) or to endeavor to create our own large-scale enterprises...we are not interested in adoptping the lifestyle that comes with both of these options.
Blackberry's, suits everyday, many hours away from family and friends and no free-time to relax...Michael and I say no thanks and prefer to build our own small enterprises that allow us to achieve balance while still creating all the material and non-material rewards that come along with delivering value to the marketplace.
Knowing now what I don't want out of my career in entrepreneurship has proved substantially more valuable in allowing me to "put the blinders on" and go after my target with the singlemindedness of a rhino...rather than getting easily distracted by any deal or opportunity that comes my way.
I'm sure you know what you want out of a career in business and entrepreneurship...But do you know what you don't want?
Figure that out right now and I guarantee you'll increase your self-confidence...and...save yourself years of confusion.
Here’s to reveling with you in entrepreneurial and business success!
Sincerely,
Adam C. Dudley
