"What is an Au Pair?"
I'm currently developing and managing a private fitness coaching program for a country club in the wealthiest zip code in Central Florida...And, looking for similar arrangements with other upscale community fitness centers...hint, hint!

Just to give you an idea....the gated community in which the country club exists boasts a median resident income of $350K per year. Affluent...yes.

Anyway, one morning I was helping a young mother gain access to the fitness center and she introduced me to a young, South American male that she called her Au Pair.

I had never heard this term and figured that the Au Pair was paid a handsome wage to simply watch the kids, buy groceries, and hang out by the pool (which he does).

Then I did a little Googling and found that an Au Pair as defined by Dictionary.com, is a young foreigner who does domestic work for a family in exchange for room and board and a chance to learn the family's language.

Then I found out that there are several online matching services and associations for this position or profession...I don't know what you'd call it exactly.

But anyway, I learned something new and had I not researched the topic I would have continued believing that an Au Pair was paid help rather than free.

Moral: learn something new everyday.
