Normally when I feel the tell tale vibes of people full of negativity, I leave the area immediately because I am now incredibly paranoid about who I associate with and who I allow to enter my field of positive success energy, but, when it's your own family...
Anyway, in my family I've noticed that several of my closest family members have taken on an incredibly cynical view of the world in general. This is caused by watching way too much news and reading way to many local newspapers.
They say things like (paraphrased), "There are so many bad people in the world." or "World War 3 is about to break loose." or "The government this or that." And on and on it goes.
It never ceases to amaze me that people are (or choose to be) oblivious to the fact that what you focus on expands, and ultimately what you think about most creates your perception of the world (and yourself for that matter).
If you sit around and watch, listen, or read the daily or world news each and every day, OF COURSE YOUR GOING TO BECOME CYNICAL!
In fact, you'll think the world is coming to an end! There is not a damn thing positive on the news these days. All doom and gloom. And you know what, there's not a damn thing you can do to control 98.9% of it.
I wake up (almost) every day feeling great, ready to experience success and overcome obstacles on the way to creating my ideal future. Every day I meet kind, generous, friendly people that I want to serve in some way, even if it's just making them feel good about themselves for a moment. In addition, I find that 95% of the people I interact with on a daily basis greet me with a smile and also want to serve me in some way.
And you know what...the more success oriented people I meet, the more positive, life enhancing literature I read, the happier I become and the stronger I get, and the stronger I get, the more people I can help and the more positive energy I can release into the world. In this way I make the world a better place each and every day.
Monitor what goes into your mind because that is exactly what you're going to get. Period.
Seems to me, Adam, that your obligation (strong word, I admit) is to inspire as many people as you can to think as you do--and, more important, show them how to do it. We're never going to overcome all the negativity the world has to "offer" (is that a negative statement?), but we can influence a few people, who, in turn, will do the same for others. It all adds up to...what? I'm not sure, exactly, but it has to have an ultimately positive effect on the world as a whole. Right?
