Neither of these projects came to fruition, but I gained valuable experience along the way which allowed me to secure the position I have now.
This is the first time in my adult life I have been employed full time in a position that allows me to utilize the full scope of my knowledge and talents.
Plus, I am working directly under the CEO who is an excellent mentor to model and a first class, self-made entrepreneur.
If I told you how I was able to get this position, you wouldn't believe me. However, if you really want to know, just email me and I'll give you the straight scoop.
My role in this new position is to manage the development and launch of a nightclub. This is an appropriate project for me because I enjoy nightclubs and I find the dynamics of a good nightclub fascinating.
This nightclub will be the first and only nightclub in
Strangely enough, I am really, really enjoying working for someone else for a change. The company I work for is lean, mean, and progressive. There is a flat organizational structure which means that there is no real hierarchy of control. This is a perfect situation for me because I am somewhat rebellious and always want to do things my way…which…has gotten me in trouble (and even fired) on more than one occasion.
The company I work for is a culture of results. If you're producing them, nobody bothers you. This seems to work out well for everyone as my co-workers are the happiest I've seen in any organization I've worked around or in.
In order to focus 100% of my attention on adapting and excelling in my new role, I have relinquished my country club fitness business to someone more interested and likely to succeed.
I have now had three fitness businesses, none of which became anything significant. Part of the reason is lack of focus on my part, the other part is that the fitness industry just never got me juiced enough to give it my all.
Hospitality, however, is very exciting to me and I think I will make a significant investment of my time with this developer because there are many opportunities to gain exposure to other projects like hotels and spas which I am very interested in as well.
So with the New Year I begin another chapter in my professional life. Now, this doesn't mean I'm giving up on entrepreneurship...I'm simply taking a moment to slow things down, gain some valuable experience, and mature a bit so that I am better equipped when it’s time to launch my next independent venture.
To be completely honest with myself, I've taken quite the entrepreneurial beating over the past four years and I am enjoying the break in the action.
P.S. Post New Year I will be setting up a very small, boutique consulting business with my fiancée who is an expert in technical communications and e-learning. Among other services, we’ll be offering consulting in the areas of writing and editing for business communications like letters, reports, proposals, copywriting, websites, presentations, etc.
Our time and resources will be exceptionally limited to only a handful of clients so if you wish to submit an RFP for your project, do so as soon as possible because we are sure to be maxed out within a matter of two weeks into the New Year. If your project is too robust or beyond our scope, be assured we will let you know and decline the work. You can email your RFP to adam@entrepreneurevolution.com.

Of course, my family members are baffled by how I managed to obtain such a high level position in a development project without any formal business education and a B.S. in Exercise & Sports Sciences.... [Read More]
